Paypal sign in Required to Bid?

Hi All, This question was posted on another board on Ebay I frequent and none of the regular members there had heard of it. I've bid on plenty of auctions which are Paypal only and have never -to the best of my memory- been asked to sign in to my PP account to place a bid on Ebay. So I'm thinking maybe this is a new thing I missed? Or is this a scam of some type? If a seller accepts only Paypal-are you (now) required to sign in to your Paypal account to place a bid? Thanks in advance.|||Do you have your PP account linked to your eBay account?~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||To link your PayPal and eBay accounts: 1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages. 2. Hover over Account tab. 3. Click the “PayPal Account” link. 4. Click the Link My PayPal Account button. 5. You'll be asked to log into PayPal to finish linking your accounts.~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||A seller can choose to block bidders without a PP account. if the PP account is not linked to your PP account, I would imagine it is asking you to log in to confirm you have a PP account, and be allowed to place a bid. Always check the url starts with https and be happy the page is real before adding your PP name and password.~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||Lucy-are you saying this happened because this individual didn't link their Paypal and Ebay accounts? Makes sense. This didn't happen to me, (thankfully) It happened to another member who posted about it on another board here. It's the Fine Jewelry and Precious Metals-the post is titled "Help I may have been scammed" or words to that effect. Here's a link to the original post: Link I just wanted to know whether it was legit (to ask someone to sign in to Paypal in order to bid) or a scam of some type.|||I just checked the other thread and the OP seems to have been given plenty of good advice. Log on to PP and if the payment is there, then it should be okay. It never harms to change your passwords occasionally, or even regularly. And then of course, link your PP and eBay accounts ..... you don't want this hold up on a five second snipe. ~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer
