Hi...i am having a very difficult time. I hadn't used my 2GB 1st Gen Nano in a while and it is requesting a 4 digit code. Is the code factory set? and how do I reset this nano?

Why won't it sync? ...
Honestly I really don't know what went wrong, I had to totally restart my itunes and everything after my computer crashed. I had a flashdrive so my music is safe but when I pluged my ipod back in it erased not only the music but the original playlists like recently added. Now since it can't find the playlists it won't sync at all.
How do I fix this?

Cannot Sync Trivia Pursuit APP. ...
I Have an "Ipod Nano, (1st Gen)," and "Itouch 16GB." After purchasing and downloadinf Trivia Pursuit from Itunes I cannot sync the application to either device. I originally wanted the app strickly for the Itouch but found to my dismay it apparently won't run on that device. However, indications are that it is suppose to load and run on my Nano. The app has an "IPG" extension.

it plays perfectly fine on my laptop
but the synced copy on the iPod always makes the iPod restart at 1:06
i tried using the restore option in itunes
and have the latest firmware for this iPod
could it be the length of the file?
is it just overloading the iPods ram or something?

I have an ipod nano 1st gen. with the latest software (1.3.1) and itunes 8.2 (windows) . If i plug my ipod in, it works great, it can do everything. But if i try to transfer a picture, it says 'it can not be played on this ipod', and it doesnt transfer it. But my ipod can view pictures as i know. So i dont understand this... Maybe the pictures's extention is the problem? I tried .jpg files (i think it should handle jpg files, so i haven't tried anything else yet) but it doesnt work. Any idea ?

iPod won't stop charging? ...
Hi guys,
Not sure if any of you have had this problem, but my iPod won't stop charging.
When I plug it constantly shows the flashing 'lightning' icon but not the actual charging progress (the way it goes up bar by bar until it is full).
That isn't such a big deal, but when I eject it from my Mac, the icon keeps flashing and doesn't show my battery level.
I've tried resetting, restoring and nothing works. It's annoying, because it means my iPod is always on, 'charging' (haha) and so the battery dies pretty quickly.
At first I thought it had been updated with some kind of amazing wireless charging device, but it seems not!
Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is that it might have got a bit wet one day when I took it out for a run... If that's the problem, what's the best way to dry it out?

Ages ago I dragged some pocasts onto my Ipod, and they never appeared, I wasn't too bothered so I forgot about it. However recently I was using the search device on my ipod, and there they were! Not in my podcasts, not even in my music (for that is where it searches (i think)) just in my search engine results.
I checked on my music space on the computer, and it says I have about 170 more songs on my ipod than I actually have on there. I'm assuming they are these podasts - and I want them gone!
I tried opening the ipod through My computer and having a look but there was nothing there (of use, not all together - that would be worrying).
Is there a way to delete them?

Recently I had to upgrade my computer memory and hard drive. All software programs were deleted. I did back up my music but am not sure how to transfer the library on my iPod to the new version of iTunes. Or transfer backed up music to new library. Could someone advise me? I have a iPod Nano 1st gen and had a question about charging it in Europe. I am wanting to take my nano when I travel to Europe, but am concerned about the voltage difference over there. I have an Apple iPod Power Adapter as well which is dual voltage (AC 100-240V) which allows me to charge it from a power outlet rather than through a USB port on a computer. Does anyone know if the iPod Nano 1st gen is dual voltage? I know I can use the Power Adapter, but I don't want to hook it up and fry my iPod if it's only designed to handle 120V. Thanks!

Are "skip count" and "last skipped" ...
I do almost all my music-listening on my iPod. I'd really like to be able to use this basic feature, but with the exception of songs skipped in iTunes, the skip count is really messed up.
I have about 20 songs out of 5,000 showing that they've been skipped (highly unlikely) while the top 10 most skipped have skip counts of 768,1024,1024,1024,1152,1728 (impossible).
Is mine bugged? Or does apple just not support this feature on their 1st gen nanos?

I recently upgraded to a 4th gen. iPod and my husband would like to use my 1st gen. iPod. I've done quite a bit of searching through the forums and haven't found an answer to my specific question- how do I disassociate the old, 1st gen. iPod from the iTunes library it's associate with? Based on what I have found, I'm thinking I need to 1. reset old iPod to factory settings then since my husband has different taste in music from me then 2. create separate iTunes library for each iPod, which I did already download that document. I tried to create the separate libraries, but then realized I need to change the settings on the first gen. iPod so that's why I'm thinking reset it to original settings. Of course, I'd like to be able to do all this without changing the library and settings on my new 4th gen. iPod.
If it matters, I'm a Windows user.
Other information I've used in the past from these forums has been helpful, so am hopeful someone can help me. Thanks in advance for any help!

I just bought an iPod USB adapter and see that it has the same sort of removeable "duck head" AC plug as the power adapter for my G4 PowerBook. Does this mean that I can use the PowerBook's 3-prong "extension" cord with the iPod adapter?

ipod nano stuck on locked ...
Help! My 1st gen ipod nano is stuck in the locked position and I can't get it to turn on. I've tried everything, but to no avail. I've toggled the hold switch and tried resetting it, I've connected it to my macbook and updated the ipod as well as restoring it. But the padlock icon is still present. My ipod doesn't turn on at all. And when I connect it to the computer, it is stuck on the language selection screen. I've tried everything. I'm currently traveling overseas, so I can't just pop into an apple store - plus it's out of warranty anyways.
Any ideas on what I can try? Please help!

Tracks listed under Audiobooks don't ...
I get books from Audible. Since upgrading to iTunes 8 now my books list under Audiobooks, but when I go to play them, they don't play the track listed. For example if I have 5 tracks, 3 by Jodi Picoult, 2 by Grisham, 1 by Gary Chapman. The first listed track is the Grisham book, but when I play it Picoult actually plays. I've tried all sorts of erase, restore and playlists, nothing fixes it. I have found a workaround. By going into Genre, I can select the author and play the book I want. I do not have shuffle turned on, everything is set as normal.
I have two iPods. My wife told me about the problem and I tried to fix hers. Then I decided to look at mine and noticed it is doing it, too. So I'm pretty sure this is associated with the latest iTunes update.

iPod won't turn off ...
My ipod works fine apart from the fact that when I hold down the menu button or the play/pause button it doesn't turn off. It's nearly three years old. I have reset everything but still it won't turn off. Any ideas?

I have a white first gen 1GB iPod nano from June of 2006.
A while ago it basically stopped working - it has been stuck on the "Use iTunes to restore" message (in multiple languages). I have tried the 5 Rs and none of them have worked.
The iPod is not 'picked up' at all when plugged into my MacBook, my Windows XP desktop or my Windows 7 RC computers. I can't see it in the device managers or system profiler, nor the Finder or Windows Explorer. Doesn't show up in iTunes on any of those computers either. When you first plug it in, the backlight comes on and displays the "Use iTunes to restore" message. The backlight then turns off, but the message remains.
Nothing I have done can make the message budge. I'm at a bit of a loss at the moment. Hope someone can helP!

getting warmer every charge cycle, now ...
... after charging it will not turn on, it's as if the battery has no charge at all.
I noticed it was getting warmer and warmer nearly every charge cycle, then the last time the battery ran down, I set it on to charge but wont turn on at all now .
Any ideas out there at all ? greatly appreciated I love my 1st gen Nano

"Hold" switch on nano is frozen ...
The "hold" switch on my nano is frozen. It will NOT move. It is in the "on" position, not
hold." BUT ... when I pick the playlist I want and tap the wheel to begin the music ... the nano also freezes. I can't reset it because the toggle switch won't work. The only thing that works is to let the battery completely run down, recharge it, and then everything works fine ... until the next time.
Anybody know how to "unfreeze" the switch??
